Kids and Cops Holiday Shop began in 2001 as a partnership with the Albemarle County Police Department to give some Albemarle County children an extra special experience in place of a Toy Lift box. Schools are asked to nominate a deserving student who is in need and can benefit from an opportunity to bond with an officer.

In 2007 and 2008, we partnered with officers from Charlottesville Police, Fluvanna County Sherriff's Office, Town of Orange Police, Gordonsville Police, Orange County Resource Officers, and VA State Police. 12 children from Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, and Orange to have lunch and go shopping with an officer. The event was coordinated by Phi Delta Kappa Educational Association.
